Jack Etchegary is a freelance musician and incoming PhD student in music theory at the University of British Columbia. Hailing from St. John’s NL, Jack has performed and recorded across Eastern Canada as a drummer, guitarist and vocalist with several NL-based artists. His research interests include genre theory, popular music and relationships between arts and media, and he has presented research at Indiana University Bloomington, University of Michigan and McGill University. Jack holds an MA in music theory from the University of Western Ontario and degrees in conducting and composition from Memorial University.
