LOGISTICS COORDINATOR

Overview:

The Logistics Coordinator is a key role within Lawnya Vawnya’s team, responsible for the recruitment, coordination, and management of festival volunteers. This position also plays a crucial role in managing logistics related to artist accommodations and catering, ensuring that both volunteers and artists have a supportive and well-organized environment.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, coordinate, and manage festival volunteers, ensuring adequate volunteers for all festival activities.

  • Handle communications through the official Lawnya Vawnya volunteer email, responding to inquiries and disseminating information.

  • Develop and maintain the volunteer schedule, ensuring regular updates and changes are communicated effectively.

  • Organize and lead volunteer training sessions to prepare the team for their roles during the festival.

  • Serve as the primary liaison for volunteers at festival venues, conducting regular check-ins throughout the festival week.

  • Create and oversee the festival volunteer driving schedule to ensure efficient transportation logistics.

  • Manage accommodations for artists, including hotel bookings, Airbnb arrangements, and billets.

  • Coordinate artist catering, including the arrangement of daily grab-and-go meals.

  • Assist with general festival duties as assigned by the Operations, Programming, and Marketing Coordinators.

  • Participate in weekly planning meetings leading up to the festival and the annual festival debrief meeting.

Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.

  • Proficiency in managing multiple tasks and solving problems in a dynamic environment.

  • Experience in volunteer management and event logistics is preferred.

Eligibility Requirements:

• All applications must reside in Newfoundland and Labrador;
• Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations;

• Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment;

AND
• Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;

OR
• unemployed / underemployed at the beginning of the contract.

FESTIVAL ASSISTANT

Overview:

The Festival Assistant is a 10-week role to support the successful execution of Lawyna Vawnya Music and Arts Festival. This position involves a range of tasks focused on promotion, logistics, and support.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Execute promotional activities, including distributing posters in downtown areas and to local businesses.

  • Support the Operations Coordinator with merchandise handling and the organization of the print fair.

  • Lead the coordination, assembly, and distribution of artist packs prior to the event.

  • Engage in promoting the festival at various pop-up and outreach events, such as farmers' markets and fairs.

  • Provide assistance across general festival duties as assigned by the Operations, Programming, and Marketing Coordinators.

  • Participate in weekly meetings in the lead-up to the festival and attend the annual post-festival debrief.

 

Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational and communication abilities.

  • Capability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

  • Flexibility and adaptability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic festival environment.
