About the event

LV14 Workshop Series presents Crip Rave: On Producing and Promoting Accessible Live-Music Experiences at The Alt Hotel (Cyan Room).

12pm / FREE / All Ages

This workshop is brought to you by Crip Rave and is designed for talent, cultural producers and promoters interested in strengthening accessibility in music culture and industry. Its aim is to introduce and provide participants with tangible tools for creating live-music experiences that prioritize access for organizers, talent and attendees. Together, we will identify relevant strategies for the various aspects of accessibility in event production and promotion, from engaging talent and talent relations to selecting suitable venues and managing other logistics. We will also delve into the multi-sensory nature of live music as an access point, and explore effective approaches to pre and post-event communication, accessible design, and sharing event accessibility information.

About Crip Rave:

Crip Rave is a Toronto-based event platform and consulting hub showcasing and prioritizing Crip, Disabled, Deaf, Mad and Sick party-goers and talent within safer and more accessible rave spaces. It was co-founded by Mad and Crip organizers Renee Dumaresque and Stefana Fratila, who are passionate about electronic music and envision a world where raves sites are accessible to everyone. Together, they have hosted parties and workshops, participated on panels at MUTEK (Montréal) and Nowadays (New York), and consulted with festivals and event promoters to enhance accessibility. Crip Rave draws on lineages of electronic music, rave and club culture, as well as Disability Justice and Crip community wisdom in their work.
