Wax Mannequin plays

at The Rose and Thistle with
Das Fucking Tops and Colonel Craze & the Hunch.
|Wax Mannequin is an old-style troubadour and a science-fiction musical vigilante; he’s from the past and the future all at once. Since the turn of this century, Wax’s passionate live performances and acclaimed recordings have garnered the fervent support of the creative underclass in his home country, as well as a burgeoning international reputation. Fiercely independent and oddly original in his vision and aesthetic, Wax Mannequin incorporates folk, scrappy prog-metal and a tireless creative ethic to create a music that is unsettling, unique and lasting. After forays into space- pop, metal and progressive rock with past releases, Wax’s most recent recording ‘Saxon’ marks a gritty return to the psych-folk roots of this rambling iconoclast. Acclaimed by digital and print publications coast-to-coast and abroad, ‘Saxon” was a chart-topper in both Exclaim’s Earshot listings and CBC Radio 3’s R330. The recording is simultaneously Wax’s most accessible and artistically cohesive work to date.||
