Jenina MacGillivray (me) has been playing music in St. John’s for about 10 years. Mostly in her living room for plants and more recently in bars. She's feeling lucky to be working with Jake Nicoll and Darren “Boobie” Browne on her first album, recorded late last year at Jake’s studio, Studio J, on Duckworth. It will be mastered by the lovely José Miguel Contreras of By Divine Right. Her songs are earnest and folky and sometimes a little bit country calypso-y. She recently started playing electric guitar a little, and  writes about things like heartache, the Super 8, PEI and grocery store romance. Jenina is also a filmmaker and especially loves the work of combining music and images.
